Working in pairs this project involved collecting data and communicating an environmental issue related to Newcastle. My project partner and I chose light pollution, particularly in the centre of Newcastle which had a lot of artificial lighting.

Using a combination of Harvard research, star gazing websites and light pollution data we accumulated knowledge about the impact of light pollution in Newcastle.

I edited the photo on the right using Photoshop to demonstrate how Newcastle would look without as many street lights. This was to demonstrate sky visibility.

Before creating the final outcome we combined ideas with sketches to highlight the types of lighting and frequency of lighting around Newcastle.
Using Figma we mocked up a website with a variety of graphs and data to encourage the audience to learn about the impacts of light pollution. We also created concepts for interactive elements where the user can adjust the postcode to learn the levels of light pollution in their area and which lighting is best for the environment.
